Sheila and Marc Struckmeyer are the Founders of The Klos Foundation — an organization created from profound loss and an unshakable commitment to protect children from the devastating effects of bullying.
Sheila is a mother, advocate, and the visionary behind The Klos Foundation. After the loss of her son, Klos, she made a defining decision: his story would not end in silence.
With courage and transparency, Sheila speaks openly about bullying, mental health, grief, and the urgent need for early intervention. Her leadership is rooted in both lived experience and relentless compassion. She believes that awareness alone is not enough — action must follow.
Sheila leads the foundation’s outreach, partnerships, programming initiatives, and community engagement efforts. Her voice continues to bring light to difficult conversations and inspire communities to create safer environments for children.
Her mission is deeply personal: to transform pain into prevention and ensure that other families do not endure preventable loss.
Marc is a veteran helicopter pilot in the air medical industry, where precision, accountability, and mission-focused leadership are critical. His career has been built around high-stakes decision-making, safety culture, and serving others in moments of crisis.
Marc shared a powerful bond with Klos and remains deeply committed to honoring his legacy through proactive, structured prevention work.
As a Founder, Marc brings operational strategy, organizational leadership, and long-term vision to the foundation. He believes strongly in building systems that protect people before tragedy strikes — whether in aviation or in schools and communities.
Together, Sheila and Marc lead The Klos Foundation with both heart and discipline — combining emotional courage with strategic action.
They are not simply advocates. They are parents who understand the cost of silence.
Their work is driven by one unwavering belief:
Children deserve to feel safe, seen, and valued — and prevention cannot wait.
Through their leadership, Klos’ light continues to impact lives and build a future rooted in compassion.
Ray Devine – Chief Financial Officer
Ray Devine serves as Chief Financial Officer of The Klos Foundation, bringing a lifetime of service, leadership, and disciplined financial oversight to the organization.
A former firefighter and paramedic, Ray built his career responding to emergencies where preparation, accountability, and calm decision-making were critical. His work required courage under pressure, precision, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others. He later transitioned into real estate, developing expertise in financial management, investment strategy, and long-term planning.
Ray’s commitment to this foundation is deeply personal. He lost his two sons, Ryan and Brad, in separate accidents just a few years apart — losses that reshaped his life and strengthened his resolve to invest in what truly matters.
Ray and Angel have shared a close friendship with Sheila, Marc, and their family for many years. They loved Klos deeply and watched him grow into the vibrant, compassionate young man he was becoming. His loss was not distant to them — it was personal and devastating.
Ray also had the honor of officiating Sheila and Marc’s wedding, a reflection of the deep trust and bond between their families.
As CFO, Ray is committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and building a sustainable organization that honors every donor’s trust. He believes strong financial stewardship is essential to protecting the mission and ensuring lasting change.
Outside of his professional work, Ray finds renewal on the water — often chartering a catamaran in the Virgin Islands or the Florida Keys, where reflection meets open horizons.
Angel Devine – Advisor
Angel Devine serves as an Advisor to The Klos Foundation, offering both professional expertise and heartfelt dedication to the mission.
With experience in the banking industry and later in the jewelry business, Angel brings financial insight, entrepreneurial perspective, and strategic thinking to the foundation’s growth. She combines business acumen with compassion — a balance that strengthens the organization’s leadership.
Angel is a proud mother to her son Rocky and a loving grandmother to Ben — roles that shape her passion for protecting children and strengthening families.
Angel and Ray have long loved Sheila and Marc as chosen family. They cherished Klos and experienced his light firsthand — his humor, loyalty, and heart. His loss profoundly affected them, and their involvement in The Klos Foundation reflects not only friendship, but a shared commitment to ensuring no other child feels bullied, isolated, or unseen.
Angel is deeply motivated to help build programs and awareness efforts that turn grief into prevention and protect children before tragedy strikes.

Rebecca’s commitment to The Klos Foundation is profoundly personal.
She has been Sheila’s best friend since 1999 — a friendship rooted in loyalty, shared milestones, and unwavering support through every season of life. As Klos’ Aunt, Rebecca loved him fiercely. His loss deeply affected her, strengthening her resolve to help build something meaningful and lasting in his honor.

Jessalyn and Brandon are deeply rooted in service, both in their professions and in their community. Jessalyn, a former flight nurse, now serves as a school nurse and small business owner while actively supporting her local elementary PTA and community events. They are proud to support the work of The Klos Foundation and are committed to helping create a world where every child feels seen, supported, and safe from the pain of bullying. Honoring Klos’s memory and protecting other children is a cause they hold close to their hearts.

Sonya Billy serves as the Senior Manager of HOA Operations while balancing a full life as a mother of three and devoted dog owner to her four beloved dogs. Two of her children are now in their twenties, and one is a teenager. Like many families, Sonya has navigated the challenges of supporting children through mental health struggles, as two of her children began facing those battles before their teenage years.
More than fifteen years ago, Sonya met Sheila in a grief support group. Both women were trying to rebuild their lives after losing their husbands to suicide. In the midst of unimaginable loss, they found friendship, understanding, and the strength to keep moving forward together.
Years later, tragedy struck Sheila’s family again when her son, Klos, died by suicide at just 13 years old after being bullied at school. No parent, family member, or friend should ever have to endure that kind of heartbreak.
Supporting The Klos Foundation is deeply personal for Sonya. She has witnessed firsthand the devastating impact that bullying and unaddressed emotional pain can have on young people and the families who love them. The foundation was created in Klos’s memory with the hope of reaching children who are being bullied—as well as those who may be bullying others—to foster understanding, compassion, and awareness.
Sonya’s passion for this mission is rooted in love, loss, and the belief that by speaking openly, educating our communities, and supporting our youth, we can help prevent other families from experiencing the same tragedy. She believes that if even one child feels seen, supported, or empowered to ask for help because of this work, then Klos’s story will continue to make a meaningful difference.

Sharon Maniaci-Melton serves as a Forensic Death Investigator for the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office. Prior to this role, she served as a Police Officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Throughout her career, Sharon has dedicated herself to public service, often working with families during the most difficult moments of their lives.
People often ask Sharon how she is able to do her job and cope with the things she sees every day. Her honest answer is often, “Lots of therapy.” While she says this with a bit of humor, the deeper truth is that her work places her in a profoundly sacred position. Sharon meets families on the worst day of their lives. She is entrusted with their heartbreak, and in those moments her responsibility goes beyond investigation — it is to care, to listen, and to ensure that every person is treated with dignity and respect.
Although Sharon does her best not to carry her work home with her, there are certain cases that remain with her long after the investigation is complete. She often finds herself thinking about the families she meets — wondering how they are surviving, how they are healing, and how they are learning to live with a grief that never fully disappears, but ebbs and flows like the tides of the ocean.
One family who never left her heart was Sheila and her son, Klos.
Sharon first met Sheila under the most heartbreaking of circumstances. She was the investigator called to Sheila’s home to investigate the suicide of her son, Klos. When Sharon entered the home, she introduced herself gently and said, “You must be Mom.” She carefully explained what the process would involve. Sheila asked if she could give her son one final kiss goodbye — a request Sharon honored without hesitation.
When Sharon stepped into Klos’ room, she saw what anyone would expect in the room of a teenage boy: an empty ice cream carton, a partially eaten bowl of cereal, and video games paused mid-play. Ordinary pieces of an extraordinary young life. Her heart broke for Sheila. In that moment, Sharon knew the best way she could serve was to do everything exactly right — to be patient, to answer every question, and to bring calm into an unimaginable moment of chaos.
Today, through Bridge to Valor – The Klos Foundation, Sharon has the privilege of honoring Klos in a different way.
Her passion for the foundation comes from a place few people understand. She has seen the devastating impact of suicide firsthand, and the ripple effects it has on families and communities. Through the work of the foundation, Sharon now has the opportunity to reach young people before crisis — offering support, connection, and hope to those struggling with bullying, isolation, and emotional pain.
She believes every child deserves to feel seen.
Every parent deserves support.
And every life deserves protection.

Every life holds immeasurable value, even when someone cannot see it for themselves.
Mandy met Klos in 2014 when she began working with his mom, Sheila. They became instant friends, and through that friendship she had the gift of knowing Klos. He was warm, funny, mischievous, and full of life—with just the right amount of sass that clearly came from his mom. Klos had a way of making people laugh and feel welcome, the kind of spirit that naturally drew others in.
What many people may not realize is that behind bright smiles and humor, young people can sometimes carry silent battles. That is why the mission of The Klos Foundation matters so deeply to her.
Mandy's passion for this work is rooted in her own journey. She knows what it feels like to sit in the quiet darkness of mental health struggles—the silence, the stigma, the isolation, and the shame. Mandy knows what it feels like to believe you have to carry that weight alone.
But she also knows something else: connection saves lives.
Someone once reached toward her when she couldn’t reach for herself. That simple act of compassion changed the direction of her life.
The Klos Foundation exists to create those moments of connection for young people who may be hurting in ways the world cannot always see. Sometimes it only takes one person to notice, one person to listen, one person to say, “You matter.”
Through empathy, compassion, and genuine human connection, we can change the trajectory of someone’s life.
Being part of The Klos Foundation is her way of honoring Klos—by helping build a world where no child feels invisible, alone, or without hope.
Because every life matters.
And every young person deserves to believe that their story is worth continuing.

Alexcia is a former Flight Paramedic and current Firefighter/Paramedic who has dedicated her career to serving others during their most critical and vulnerable moments. Her commitment to suicide prevention and youth advocacy is deeply personal.
Alexcia shares a close friendship and professional history with The Klos Foundation’s founder, Sheila Struckmeyer. After working alongside Sheila and walking beside her through the heartbreaking loss of her son, Klos, to suicide following bullying, Alexcia witnessed firsthand the profound and lasting impact such a tragedy has on a family and community. That experience strengthened her determination to help ensure other families never have to endure the same loss.
Her passion for this mission is also shaped by her own life experiences. Alexcia was bullied during her middle school years and understands how isolating and painful it can feel to believe you are alone. Those experiences helped shape the empathy, resilience, and compassion that guide both her personal life and professional service today.
Through her work with The Klos Foundation, Alexcia is committed to advancing awareness, education, and early intervention surrounding bullying and youth mental health. She believes every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported, and she is dedicated to helping build communities where no young person feels invisible, unheard, or alone.
